How Your Somerset Grill Is Built?

Your Somerset Grill is hand-built by our small team in Somerset. Every one of us has a grill at home, so we build them the way we'd want our own built.

If something can be better, we make it better. We don't ship anything we wouldn't cook on ourselves. Heavy steel, welded in our own workshop, made to last decades rather than seasons. The video shows the build from bare steel to first fire.

What You'll See

1. Prep

The steel arrives laser cut and folded to our drawings. We check and prep every part for the Ember Maker, the frame and the V Grills before it goes near a welder.

2. Weld

This is the bit we care about most. People who know what they're looking at weld every joint here in Somerset. It's why we can put a 10-year warranty on Gunmetal and 20 years on Cor-Ten.

3. Finish

Gunmetal grills are oiled and ready to season with their first fires, like a cast-iron pan. Cor-Ten grills are weathered here before they leave, so yours arrives with the patina already started.

The rust is the protection. On Cor-Ten, the patina seals the steel beneath and keeps deepening for years. Nothing to paint, nothing to treat.

4. Assemble and Test

The height mechanism, the V Grills and the Ember Maker come together, and every grill gets a proper once-over before it leaves the workshop.

What That Means for You

The welds you'll never think about are the reason you can cook on this every weekend for decades. Heavy steel holds its heat, so a Sunday roast in January is as steady as a Friday sear in July. Every grill is checked by someone who cooks on one, so your first fire feels like your fifth. And because we build them here, if anything ever needs replacing, you call us and we sort it.

Come and See It

The showroom is next to the workshop. Book a visit and you'll see grills being built while you're here.

Your cook, your name, on the site. Photos, a recipe or a video — whatever you’ve got.

A photo of what you cooked, and a line about it. That’s all. It goes on the owners’ wall with your name and grill.

Everything is looked over by the team before it appears on the Hub. We may get in touch to ask about your cook.
