Meet The team
We thought you might like to meet the people behind your Grills

Ben - Co-Founder
That's me! The idea of creating an Asado Grill that was perfect for wood-fired cooking at home, came to me whilst using a custom made Grill on board Motor Yatch Octopus.
Since returning to shore, I started by welding together my first Asado Grill inside a rented shipping container in 2018. Since then, we have grown from an old barn without electricity, to an old cow shed, and finally where we are today in our old potato shed, surrounded by fields, in the village of Seavington (we even have a showroom now too!)

Tom - Co-Founder
Tom is our design and engineering guru, he is a wizard on CAD drawings and fab at evolving the Grill to do more and better things. Having design in house means we can quickly make and build new accessories and continuously improve the odd fixture or shape here and there.
He designed the new Go! from scratch, and via 5 prototypes and rigorous testing, it was ready to go inside 4 months!
Tom's Favourite Cook: Cheese Toastie (We know - but apparently it's the best cheese toastie he's ever had!)

Martin - Commercial Director
Martin joined the Somerset Grill Co in 2021 as an early investor, and has been keeping our finances in check ever since.
With loads of experience in eCommerce and business management, he's been a huge help, guiding and mentoring us from the start.
Martin's Favourite Cook: Butterflied lamb shoulder on the V-Grills.

Claire - Accounts & Marketing
My wife, Claire, has been with me on our Asado Grill journey from the very beginning at all hours. She left teaching to join the company in 2023.
With 3 boys, a labrador and working in the business, she is kept very busy!
Claire's Favourite Cook: Rotisserie Pork Joint - especially the crackling!

Katrina - Marketing
Joined in November and builds the content, the community, and the helpful, tasty stuff you find in your inbox. When she's not doing that, she's walking the dog, watching her boys play football, or camping with the family.
Katrina's favourite cook: Rump teak with grilled asparagus and carrots.

Dan - Purchasing
Started with us during his university holidays and has been full time for a year now, looking after all our purchasing. Outside work: football, friends, and games on his PC.
Dan's favourite cook: Pork belly, roasted slow and finished with the best pork scratchings going.

Paul - Welder
Paul has been a welder and fabricator for most of his life and has been with us for 3 years now. He sets the standards for others to follow, and oversees quality control. He is our problem solver, carpenter supreme and turns his hand to anything we need.
During his spare time, he enjoys tinkering with cars and trying not to fall off his bike!
Paul's Favourite Cook: Ribs on the V-Grills.

Matt - Welder
Matt is also one of our expert craftsmen, who has been with us for 2 years and is a talented welder and a budding singer, which can be heard echoing around the place!
He is enjoys watching movies and playing games in his spare time.
Matt's Favourite Cook: Thick cut Pork Loin Chops on the V-Grills, with the fat cut to make epic crackling!

Alanis - Apprentice Welder
Alanis is completing her welding apprenticeship with us while studying locally. She climbs, cycles, has four dogs, and a pet caterpillar called Calpol.
Alanis' favourite cook: TBC. She's still putting us all to shame on the climb wall.

Max - Assembly Lead
Joined four months ago and has already become a solid part of the team, assembling every grill before it goes out the door. Outside work, he plays a lot of sport and enjoys walking his dog to the pub.
Max's favourite cook: Venison steaks with grilled veg.
