Cor-Ten Firepit

Built to extend the summer evenings and keep you warm on a cold one. Handmade here in Somerset from 3mm Cor-Ten, arriving pre-weathered and fully assembled. No flat-pack, no tools, no bolts to lose.

Heat radiates outwards at seated height rather than straight up, so the people around it feel it. The firebrick base holds that heat and keeps giving it back long after the flames have died down, and the log store underneath keeps the next few hours' wood dry and within reach.

Cor-Ten looks after itself. The rust layer is the protection, not a fault, and it needs nothing from you. No oiling, no covers, no winter routine. Drainage holes in the sides shed rainwater when it's not in use.

Our classic Ember Rake is included, so you can move the embers around and control where the heat goes.

Cor-Ten is weathering steel. Over the first few months outdoors it develops a rust-coloured patina — that isn't damage, it's the steel protecting itself. Once it forms, it seals the surface and stops corrosion going any deeper.

So the short answer is: leave it alone. No painting, no treatment, no oiling.

Early days. It arrives pre-weathered, and the colour keeps deepening over the first few months, especially after rain. Uneven at first, then it settles into an even rust-brown.

Run-off. While the patina settles, rain can carry rust-coloured run-off onto whatever's underneath. On light stone, stand it on gravel or a dark slab, or use a base. Once it's settled, run-off stops.

Covers. Not needed. If you'd rather keep it tidier between uses, a cover won't hurt.

Lifespan. With no intervention at all, expect 25+ years.
