How to Use Your Amex Points at Checkout

There are two ways to apply your Membership Rewards® points when ordering a Somerset Grill. Use whichever fits how you normally shop online.

Method 1: Pay Directly by Card (via Amex SafeKey)

The most straightforward route if you'd rather enter your card details directly on our site.

1. Add your items to your cart and proceed to checkout.
2. Select "Credit Card" as your payment method and enter your American Express card details.
3. Click "Pay Now." An Amex SafeKey security window will appear on your screen.
4. Inside that window, look for the "Use Points" option. You can apply points to cover the full amount or just part of it.
5. Confirm your selection. The charge will show on your statement, but American Express will apply a credit to your account shortly after to offset it.

If the SafeKey window doesn't appear, check that your browser isn't blocking pop-ups — that's the most common reason the option doesn't show.

Method 2: Pay via PayPal

Works just as well if PayPal is already your go-to for online shopping.

1. Make sure your American Express card is added to your PayPal wallet and enrolled in PayPal's "Pay with Rewards" programme.
2. Select PayPal at checkout and log in to your account when redirected.
3. Choose your American Express card as the payment source. If you have enough points, you'll see an option to "Apply Rewards" to the total.
4. Confirm the transaction. You'll see the points deducted from your Amex balance.

If the rewards option isn't appearing, head to your PayPal settings and check that your Amex card is properly linked and enrolled in "Pay with Rewards."

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use points to cover shipping and taxes? Yes. Because the points are applied as a credit against the full transaction total, they cover everything — products, shipping, and any applicable taxes.

What happens if I return my order? We'll refund the transaction amount to your American Express card or PayPal account as normal. American Express doesn't usually automatically reinstate the points used — instead, the refund appears as a cash credit on your statement. If you'd prefer your points back, contact American Express directly once the refund has processed.

Why can't I see the option to use points? For SafeKey payments, the most likely cause is a pop-up blocker — the points option appears in a pop-up window, so make sure those are enabled for our site. For PayPal, double-check that your Amex card is linked and that you've enrolled in "Pay with Rewards" within your PayPal account settings.
